Next, we remove the old disposal, disconnect plumbing and power safely, and prepare the sink opening. We set a new flange with plumber’s putty, install the mounting assembly to the manufacturer’s torque specs, and connect the discharge to the trap with new gaskets. If a dishwasher is present, we properly open the knockout and secure the hose. The disposal is either cord-connected or hardwired using a strain relief and appropriate connections.

Finally, we test thoroughly: we run water, check for leaks at the flange, discharge tube, and trap, and verify smooth, quiet operation with minimal vibration. We demonstrate use and care, including cold-water operation, what not to grind, and how to reset or unjam the unit safely. After clean-up and haul-away, you receive documentation of the work and warranty details for peace of mind.
